Thailand Info the dinosaurs are here in Bangkok!. Step back into the Jurassic period where movies become reality right here in Bangkok. Dinosaur Planet, located right in the heart of Bangkok city at the prestigious EM District on Sukhumvit Road and just a short distance from the Phrom Phong BTS Skytrain line. Nearby shopping includes the Emporium Bangkok and Emquartier Shopping centers which cater to the middle and upper-class clientele as well as numerous cafes and pubs in the vicinity.

To get to the Dinosaur Planet site, walk about one hundred meters from the BTS or cross the road from the shopping centers. You will not miss the place with the Dino Eye ferris wheel in plain sight. Dinosaur Planet opened its doors in March 2016 after a quick setup and an expensive investment. If you love dinosaurs and your aim is to just take a few pictures with these electronically animated life-sized gargantuan reptiles, then this place is for you if you do not mind the fairly steep entrance tickets.

Mind you that the price of the entrance tickets which cost THB600 per person at the door does not include rides such as the Dino Eye ferris wheel that has a few more dinosaurs in there or other kiddy rides on the mobile dinosaurs.

At the courtyard of the entrance there is the big Tyrannosaurus Rexon the top of the building and a pair of Brontosaurus which are quite impressive. You can then head on to the 4D Deep Ocean Room where there is another dinosaur on display along with loads of large balls to simulate air bubbles for kids to play with and even a few adults!

From the sea to the ferris wheel (bear in mind this ride is another THB200 per person but was recently put on hold by the tourism ministry for two weeks due to safety reasons since the publication of this article due to a fire on one of the ferris wheel cabs in mid-air). There are a few more dinosaurs in here and the number of dinosaurs in total at the theme park is around 200 life-sized animated models.
In total there are eight zones spread over 15,000 square meters. Other zones are the Big Bone Gallery where you can view huge mock-ups of dinosaur skeletons for the Triceratops andStegosaurus or head on to the Dino Lab and watch baby dinosaurs hatch from eggs. There are also two shows which are the Great Volcano and The Extinction Live show in the courtyard. Those who love thrills, go check the Raptor X-Treme cages and come face to face with a Jurassic style Velociraptor.

Kids would love the dinosaur rides at the Dino Farm but each ride is an additional charge as it is with the craft station where children can build clay models of dinosaurs.
If you are hungry, the Dino Square has a few stores for food and a gift shop. However my advice is that it is best to eat before you come as there is nothing much on offer in terms of food plus it is rather expensive compared to even eating at the high-end department stores of Emporium and Emquartier Food Courts across the road.

Kids would pester you for toys and souvenirs at the gift shop that has everything dinosaur to keep them amused for a short while. You can find dinosaur coin banks, battery-operated dinosaurs, mugs, t-shirts and soft toys here.
On a whole, if you absolutely love these dinosaurs, have kids you are trying to occupy their time over the holidays or seriously do not mind spending a fortune for a half day entertainment, then this place is interesting. Compared to other theme parks in Bangkok or family attractions which offer an all-in-one ticket price at the entrance, Dinosaur Planet is rather steep and parents can expect to spend around THB1000 per person on the average for an adult for food and all the rides or THB700 for each child for a few mere hours of entertainment. There are not many prominent rides in this theme park and the attraction is as the name says, all about dinosaurs. Do not expect thrill rides or roller coasters or even merry-go-rounds. If you absolutely must have a photo with a dinosaur or two, then by all means head on down to the Dinosaur Planet!
